Easter Sunday

This was one of those days that you have this wonderful plan in your head of how things should go and everything falls off track and with each moment the day just seems to get crazier and crazier! I just had to remind myself that this is the day that we celebrate all that the Lord gives us, even the yuck!

We all got up and ready for church in our fresh looking Easter outfits but of course there was not enough time to snap a photo before we headed out, just know that we looked really cute before we walked out the door and hit the down poor of rain that is never ending this week. There is just no good way to get the car loaded up with all the things you need for a day away from the house and two kids in the middle of a crazy crazy rain storm! I also have to say that I love our church, have pretty much attended it my whole life and would never want to change but I hate the fact that we have no covered area to pull up under to unload! Needless to say by the time we got the kids and ourselves into the building Jason and I looked like we had taken a shower in our clothing! OK I can deal with this, we are hear to celebrate the day that the Lord has made for us and be glad in it. I put a smile on my face took our kids to their classrooms and Jason and I were off to teach children's church. This all went off wonderfully and then it was time to load back up and head to lunch with our family friends the Walker's.
I honestly think that we have had Easter lunch with them sense I was probably four years old. I really do not remember an Easter were our two families have not been together. I love getting to spend that time with them hanging out and catching up and now watching our kids play. We had a great lunch, and I have to say that my Stella was on her best behavior! I was very proud of her for acting like such a young lady. I was very sad that the rain kept us from being able to go out and hide eggs but there is always next year. I just have to remind myself that the important thing is that my children understand that Easter is about Jesus and the sacrifice that he made for us.
While at the Walker's I realized that Rhett was feeling warmer than normal and he was walking around with bunny and passey and not really playing. I was not sure what was going on but gave him some tylenol and told J that we should head home because I did not want to cause others to be sick if something really was wrong. My parents are so wonderful and said that they would take Stella home with them. I am so glad that they did this because by the time we got home I realized that Rhett was getting warmer instead of cooler. I went ahead and gave him some more medicine and laid him down for a nap. Well, that did not last long! He was back up pretty fast and we realized that the fever was not getting any better but much worse! We decided that I would take him to the ER and get him checked out.
So, there I was on Easter Sunday loading my son up in the car in the middle of a rainstorm to take him to the ER. I have to say that when you get the ER and tell them that your child has a fever of 103 the check him pretty fast and when they take his ear temp and it reads 104 they move fast, then they do a rectal temp and it reads 105.5 they start running, and this mommy about lost it knowing what that could lead to if it keeps going up! They took us to a room and I held him in my lap, which after the rectal temp was pretty much the only place that he was willing to be, they started wetting him down with damp rags to try and get the fever down. The Dr. came to check him out and I told him that Rhett has been fine except for a lot of issues with allergies and that we just off meds for an ear infection a week ago. The Dr. took one look at his ears and said yes, he has a really bad ear infection and ordered a shot of antibiotics and then gave us a scrip for another medication. The shot started working pretty fast and helped get his temp down, they would not let us leave until it was at 100 which is finally hit around 9 that evening. We had orders to see Rhett's Dr. the next day to follow up. I was so glad that the nurses and Dr. took such fast action in getting his fever down and were wonderful to me and Rhett. I am so glad that I have such a wonderful father in heaven that watches over us and answers our prayers.
So. we have no photos of this crazy day but I am sure that even with out the photos I will never forget it!
